Pura (Bush Berry) by Alice Nampitjinpa Dixon

In this work Alice depicts the abundant bush berries, or pura (pronounced poo-rah), sometimes referred to as bush tomatoes. They are found around and west of the Kintore area, Alice’s country. Before consuming this delicacy, the berry’s seeds are removed by scraping out the insides. The seeds are inedible due to their toxicity. Only the fleshy part of the berry is consumed.
