Partjima 2021 – A Festival in Light

Ended — at Alice Springs Desert Park

Ikuntji artists are excited to be involved in the next Parrtjima Festival 2021! In celebration of next generation artists, Daphne Marks and Francis Marhshall’s works will be part of the festival for the first time.

Parrtjima – A Festival in Light will take place from 9-18 April 2021.

FUTURE KULTCHA is based on the timeless oral way of learning, the passing of knowledge from one generation to the next that has taken place amongst Aboriginal peoples for eons.  But to learn, you also have to understand the listening.  Listen to the elders, custodians and guardians of language.

And imagine – when you have knowledge you have obligation, when you have a voice you have freedom, you have pride and you belong.

PARRTJIMA 2021 – FUTURE KULTCHA an inclusive two-way, side by side exchange.  It will give young and emerging artists a new agency, working side by side with cultural guides, while senior artists and performers pass on their wisdom to the next generation in new ways and forms.

The program will focus on intergenerational wisdom told through light, installations, art, music, dance, performance and digital.  Through deep listening conversations and the spoken word.

Wisdom passed to a new generation and expressed in new ways – under the desert skies, amongst an ancient landscape, from the heart of Australia.
