Ikuntji Artists are proud to announce that works by Eileen Napaltjarri Anyama, Keturah Zimran and Eunice Napanangka Jack are finalists in this years Vincent Lingiari Art Award.
About the award:
In 2016, the inaugural Vincent Lingiari Art Award commemorated the 50th anniversary of the historic Wave Hill Walk Off and 40 years since the Aboriginal Land Rights Act (NT) 1976 was enacted by the Australian Parliament.
This year, Desart in partnership with the Central Land Council and Tangentyere Artists, present the 2019 Vincent Lingiari Award, ‘Our Country – True Story’
Rights to land is fundamental to the social, religious, economic and political identity of Aboriginal peoples’ in the NT.
Over the past 40 years the CLC on behalf of traditional Aboriginal land owners has secured significant areas of land for the benefit of Aboriginal people and this exhibition aims to celebrate these significant achievements.
The Exhibition:
The 2019 Vincent Lingiari Art Award exhibition ‘Our Country – True Story’ will open at Tangentyere Artists Gallery, Alice Springs on September 4th, 2019.
