I am a huge fan of this Ikuntiji Artists and cannot get enough of their artwork. My sofa is covered in their cushions and a blanket and I now have three artworks on my walls. The art centre is also great to deal with. You won't be disappointed if you choose to support this not-for-profit art centre.

I was given a metre of Rockholes fabric as a present but it was too beautiful to cut up! I had it stretched on a frame and now it hangs in our hallway. The lively colours and shapes make me happy whenever I walk past.

Ann Lane nee Dixon |

Ann was born in 1960 in Alice Springs and grew up in Papunya. Her mother is Jocelyn Nampitjinpa, a Warlpiri woman and her father is Benny Tjapatjari from Warakurna in the NPY lands of Western Australia. Ann remembers a long time ago, when her father would walk with camels to Hermannsburg with rations for the people.

Ann met her husband and fellow painter, Joseph Lane, a long time ago when he worked as a stockman. Ann says she has been painting for a long time now. She remembers sitting and painting at the old Ikuntji Art Centre with the old men and women, amongst them, Eunice Napanangka Jack and Kumuntjai Napurrula. She remembers that they used to make a fire inside the art centre and sometimes sleep there overnight.

Ann paints the Tjukurrpa from her father’s country, Pirrnpirrnga - Desert Bore. Ann is now the only one in her family that paints.

Alison Napurrula Multa Pantjiti | Alison was born

Alison Napurrula Multa Pantjiti |
Alison was born in 1965 in Alice Springs in Central Australia and moved with her mother back to her country near Haasts Bluff. Alison’s home country is 200km west of Haasts Bluff in and around the Cleland Hills, sand hill country beyond the West MacDonnell Ranges, with a permanent dwelling at Brown’s Bore enabling her to return and visit the places sacred to her family and renew her connections with the land. Alison is married to late artist, Kumuntjai Butcher who was a founding member of the Warumpi Band which burst onto the Australian rock scene in the early 1980s.

As an up and coming artist she likes to experiment with styles and textures. She likes to take in the broader sweep of desert life and Aboriginal connection to this landscape and its changing moods, its harshness and its beauty.
