Nganytja (Bush Grapes)
"It's small, tiny around. The colours are green, not ready to eat, only it's red, maroon, and orange you can eat then. it's in a top of the tree. In the tree sometime high up in the tree and sometime it's hard to reach and collect it. I did this painting, it reminds me I wanted to paint it so people can see what it looks like and what is it. It's bush food, long time ago people used to walk and when they're walking they used to get it, now it's still there. We go hunting and collect it. And that same tree is used for making spears and digging stick and in that tree, on the ground there's the honey ants there and they have eggs there, that's the same tree. It's sometime, that same tree, its got on the limbs there is a bumpy red thing, sometimes that melts, only on a hot day. It's like honey melting, put it in the mouth and it's nice and sweet, called karrku. On this tree, it's got a bush apple, really round. That's the stick, you can use this for making fire, this tree is useful. It's got everything." - Joyce Dixon
