Ikuntji Artists
Ikuntji Artists is a member-based, not-for-profit Aboriginal art centre, fully Indigenous-owned and governed. It operates as an Aboriginal corporation under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (CATSI Act), regulated by the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC). Its board of five Indigenous directors is elected by the members each year at the Annual General Meeting — keeping every major decision in the hands of the community it serves.
Manager
Art Centre Manager since 2012. Completed her PhD research at the Research School of Humanities and the Arts, Australian National University, focusing on the history of the Utopia art movement. Has worked for the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies, the National Museum of Australia, the Strehlow Research Centre, and auction houses and galleries across Australia and overseas. Speaks fluent German and French.
Assistant Manager
Assistant Manager since 2012. A diverse role at the art centre, from working with artists and building canvas frames to filming artists’ life stories, taking artist portraits and photographing artworks. Also a mentor for art workers, helping develop their skills in photography and hands-on manual work.
Each year, Ikuntji Artists works with over 20 arts workers from the community — holding up the art centre and making sure culture stays strong.
Ikuntji Artists also works with cultural liaisons and translators from the community, ensuring the art centre runs in a culturally safe way.
