Mikantji by Garrard Anderson

Mikantji is located north west of Yuendumu and is a place of the water (Ngarpa) dreaming. Mikantji is connected to Tjangala and Tjanpitjinmpa, the custodial owners of the land. There are five other places that are connected with Mikantji water dreaming. The story of water dreaming is that clouds and thunder came together in a big fight, forming the lightning. From this, the rain came down like tears from the clouds. This site is the artist’s grandfather’s part of country. He learnt the story of Mikantji water dreaming from his grandfathers and grandmothers.
