This fabric by Daphne Marks depicts the Yalka Tjukurrpa - the Bush Onion Dreaming at Karrkurutinytja (Lake McDonald). Two old women gather bush onions at the creek bed and travel west, while another woman follows their tracks, collects mungilpa, and eventually becomes a rock at Kurultu. Daphne was passed down the right to paint this story from her grandmother Narputta Nangala Jugadai, Ikuntji's most senior and internationally recognised painter.
Daphne was born in 1979 in Alice Springs and grew up at Haasts Bluff, raised by her grandmother after the death of her parents. She has been involved with Ikuntji Artists since it first opened in 1992.
