Central Australian Aboriginal Textiles, Alice Springs

Ended — at Tangentyere Artists Gallery

Over the past two years Ikuntji Artists have been working with the Batchelor Institute of Tertiary Education on developing a range of digitally printed fabrics. The first range of fabric designs was based on bush and desert flowers and the second range is a highly abstract range of textile designs, which uses shibori dyeing techniques coupled with textile crayons and drawings.

This exhibition features experiments into both directions and showcases Ikuntji Artists’ artistic developments alongside other Central Australian Aboriginal textiles developed over the past 20 years through workshops and training with Batchelor Institute.
